NA adopts resolution to declare Malala ‘Daughter of Pakistan’

The National Assembly on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution asking the government to declare Malala Yousufzai the ‘Daughter of Pakistan’. The resolution was moved by Pakistan People’s Party’s Robina Saadat Qaimkhani, who said Malala had become a role model for child education across the world. “This House gives great importance and significance to the sacrifice made by Malala Yousufzai for the sake of education. This House, therefore, recommends that Malala Yousufzai may be declared the Daughter of Pakistan,” the resolution said. Qaimkhani said owing to her struggle for promotion of peace and girls’ education, Malala deserved an applause and a special recognition from parliament. She also lauded the role of President Asif Ali Zardari in promoting child education in the country.

  17. Malala is not simply a victim or a bystander, she is a champion of those who stand steadfast against tyranny until they are felled by wicked cowards. Because of her goodness and her courage I am proud of Pakistan. I am proud to call her a daughter of my nation!

  23. I am happy that a truly good Pakistani has been honoured. Why a list of unrelated grievances against an open faced child who was shot for upholding her faith in the right of females to be educated? Does she frighten some people? So much indecent hate against a child is a mystery.

  27. There are many more deserving candidates as mentioned by other commenters above. By doing this the NA is just pandering to the Western agenda as usual. The daughters of Pakistan worthy of mention are the many students who have been killed in the illegal drone strikes. The daughters of Pakistan are the numerous other girls who are denied a quality education comparable to that of the daughters of many of the Ministers in the MA.

    • Yes they die, unfortunately. But that does not diminish Malala's significance she stood up against Taliban for sake of education.

  58. Useless decision too many poor girls and youngs boys are on the roads for begging,no education why they are so ignored till now?They have to express lone and complete solidarity with America,perhaps than their luck will boom.
