Afghan Parliamentary delegation calls on Prime Minister

An 18 member Afghan Parliamentary delegation called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at the Prime Minister’s House.
Welcoming the delegation to the PM’s House, the Prime Minister said that exchange of delegations between Pakistan and Afghanistan will enhance trust and understanding between the people of two countries which will help in better relations between the two countries.
Referring to the recent visit of Mr Salahuddin Rabbani, Chairman of the High Peace Council and Foreign Minister Mr Zalmai Rassoul, the Prime Minister said that “he was pleased that the relations are on the right directions”.
Assuring the delegation that Pakistan is all out for peace and stability in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister said “we are neighbours, we have to live together and our generations will have to live together”.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the delegation will have useful discussions during its present visit to Pakistan.
Senator Abdul Wali Raji, Member of the Meshrano Jirga speaking on the occasion drew the attention of the Prime Minister to delay in clearance of goods at Karachi seaport destined for Kabul.
Another member of the Afghan delegation welcomed the proposal of Pakistan to convene Ulema Conference between the two countries and suggested that interactions of academia, media and other sections of the society should also be encouraged for better understanding between the two countries.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf assured the Afghan delegation that he will look into the complaint regarding delay in clearance of Afghan goods at Karachi seaport and welcomed the proposal for interaction of all sections of the society of the two countries.
Faisal Karim Kundi Speaker National Assembly, Mir Israrullah Zehri Minister for National Food Security & Research, Dr M Farooq Sattar Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Mr Qamar Zaman Kaira Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Senator Abbasi Afridi Minister of State for Commerce, Senator Jahangir Badar, Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
