Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said in a message on International Anti-Corruption Day that corruption has weakened the foundations of the country and all records of corruption have been broken in the tenure of the current inefficient federal rulers. He said that the aim of progress and prosperity could not be achieved in a country where corruption was rampant, adding that societies that were governed by corrupt rulers were meant for destruction at some point. He further said that corruption was a result of continuation of bad governance in the country.
The Punjab CM said that President Asif Ali Zardari and his gang have looted national resources and pushed the country towards darkness while national institutions had also been ruined completely.
Furthermore, he said that the recent report of Transparency International (TI) had exposed the record corruption of “Ali Baba and Forty Thieves”.
Moreover, he said that it was lamentable that Pakistan had become the 33rd most corrupt country of the world in the tenure of the current ruling party.
The Punjab CM said that the federal rulers were looting national resources ruthlessly, and in return they had been showing criminal negligence towards finding practical solution to people’s problems which was highly shameful.
In addition, he said that the Punjab government had promoted transparency and merit at every level and it was absolutely free from corruption.
He challenged that he would quit politics if corruption of even a single penny was proved during the ongoing development projects in Punjab.
