The Legends Golf Classic Event was contested between Team Karachi, led by Imran Habib, comprising 34 golf players and Team Lahore , competing under the captaincy of Haroon Arshed, comprising an equal number of contenders.
The championship was spread over three days and two golf arenas, with round one played at DHA Defence Raya Golf Course and round 2 and 3 at the impeccable Royal Palm Golf and Country Club Golf Course and after 34 four ball matches and 34 singles, Team Lahore combined extremely well to adequately curb the sting of Karachi combatants and win the Legends Classic Trophy by aggregating 42. 5 points to Karachi’s 25. 5. For Lahore consistency was the order of the day while Karachi lads oscillated between brilliance and lack lustre play. Most of the Karachi golfers became victims of nerves, in particular on the closing 16th, 17th and 18th holes of the Royal Palm Golf Course. They just could not manage the challenge of these holes.
And as the Karachi Captain, Imran Habib commented, “On many holes our accomplished ones lost their matches, rather than than the Lahori competitors winning them”. In turn however the Vice Captain of Lahore Team, Tariq Misbah said, “It was our control and command over the shot making that upset our rivals.
Royal Palm Golf Course was in great condition and generously appreciated by the visitors from Karachi, who although lagging behind by twelve points at the start of the final round, were most expectant about the ultimate result, with 34 singles matches to be decided on the final day on Sunday. However as the matches progressed it was evident that the Lahore team members were in no mood to let go their advantage. And Faisal Sayid set the ball rolling with a masterly display of competitive golf completely crushing his rival Muhammed Iqbal winning six up with four holes to go. The dominance was all in Faisals favour, as he went through regulation pars with smooth play.
Others who won their matches for Lahore were Amir Mehmood, Col(r)Jameel Khalid, Asad Amin, Col(r)Asif Mehdi, Sharjeel Awan, Taimoor Shabbir, Farid Malik, Humayun Mian, Omer Salamat, Faisal Naqvi, Abdul Basit, Faisal Iqbal, Dr Dildar Chaudry, Tariq Mushtaq, Ahmed Rafi, Haroon Arshed(Captain) and Tariq Misbah. Out of the 34 singles Lahore won 18 matches with three matches halved.

A. Khan. Asad played a spirited game on the final day and charged all his cylinders. The hitting off tees was accurate and classy were his fairway shots. Adnan Afridi, Ahmed Siddiqi and Adnan Sohail halved their matches.
As for the daily scores , Team Lahore had 11points as against Karachi’s 6 in the four ball contest, on the first day, and on the second day Team Lahore compiled 12 against 5 for Karachi on the second day;on the final day Lahore compiled 19. 5 points whereas Karachi managed 14. 5 in the singles competition, thus enabling Lahore to pick up the trophy with an aggregate score of 42. 5 points.
