The police chief of Afghanistan’s western Nimroz province was killed in a bomb attack on Monday, officials said.
Gen Mohammad Musa Rasuli was travelling back to the province from Herat when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb, local police said.
Gen Rasuli died of his wounds in hospital. Three other people were also injured in the attack, reports said.
No group said it carried out the attack, although the Taliban have targeted provincial officials before.
Last week, Afghan intelligence chief Asadullah Khalid was wounded in a Taliban suicide bombing in central Kabul. The attacker had posed as a peace messenger.
