Environment Protection Agency Director General Rafiuddin Ghouri termed the overall environmental position in Sindh as unsatisfactory and said that industrial effluent was the main source of causing negative impact on the environment of the province. The EPA has decided to establish it divisional level officers at Larkana, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas to initiate action to minimize the threats of environmental pollution and create awareness among the people about environmental hazards which are threats to their live, he said. The EPA director general expressed these remarks while expressing his views at a public discussion on environmental pollution, which was arranged by a pharmaceutical company here at a local hotel the other day.

Sindh Government has now formed a committee under supervision of the Commissioner Hyderabad Division Ahmed Bux Narejo, which started its assigned task. He informed and added that EPA had issued notice to 3,500 factories of the province last year on charge of violation of the laws of environment control.
