Father of Pakistan’s nuclear programme and chief of Tehrik-e-Tahafuz Pakistan Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on Saturday said that construction of Kalabagh Dam is necessary for strengthening the economy of the country.
Talking to a private TV channel, Dr AQ Khan said construction of Kalabagh Dam was vital for addressing all challenges facing the country.
He said the country would get rid from IMF and stand on its own feet if the Kalabagh Dam was built.
The renowned nuclear scientist said the governments of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should not oppose to construction of the dam which would make the two provinces more prosperous.
Dr AQ Khan also expressed dissatisfaction over Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s response, saying that those condemning the dam are unaware of its importance.
He said construction of dams including Kalabagh Dam have become imperative at this critical juncture when the country is facing acute shortage of electricity.
In response to a question, he said elections were very important to bring political change in the country. The process will sweep away corrupt elements.
