The Foreign Office said British police Scotland Yard raided Business Office located in London in connection with the assassination of Imran Farooq, a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader.
Issuing a statement regarding UK police raid at Business Office, the Foreign Office said it would be wrong to prematurely infer anything from the police raid.
The FO statement voiced hoped that the British probe will help dispel all misgivings about the Muttahida, adding the MQM is not only an allied party of the government but also it represents all secular forces of the country.
Dr Farooq was an outstanding MQM leader. He was murdered outside his home in Edgware, London as he was on way back from work on 16th September 2010.
He disappeared from Pakistan in 1992 and was living in London since 1999, when he claimed asylum in the UK. Farooq’s party MQM said that it will offer the police any help to find the killers.

  1. It is wholly wrong for Foreign Office of Pakistan (Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan) to issue a statement speculating on the outcome of the investigation.

It is most inappropriate. It is a criminal act to weigh on one side or the other.

Government of Pakistan must refrain from this.

    • Just because the statement went out in favor of MQM it has suddenly become INAPPRORIATE. How about the government is tossing its weight to stop probing against Nawaz in the ISI funds case. Hmmm, I reckon nobody would make comments on this.

For years, Punjab and its veritable Punjab Army has deprived other proviences with their due rights. For instance, in 1970, the general election was clearly won by Awami Leauge with 160 votes againt PPP with 81 votes, however, Punjab and Punjab Army have decided to break country into two for a simple fact that East Pakistan had no feaudal system and the Punjabi were afraid that there reign will soon over, therefore they decided to commit heineous attrocities againt Bangalis.

      • Oh please! Spare us the none sense these politicians have taught us for four decades. Punjab, and the Punjab Army broke Pakistan in 1971 for a Sindhi Bhutto? How stupid of the Punjab Army.

It's about time people grew out of their petty ethnic stupidities before the "friends" of Pakistan make a Libya out of us.

      • It was Bhutto a Sindhi who benefitted from the unfortunate and uncalled for military action in East Pakistan, a crisis in which the Behari minority living there played a dirty role.

  2. How could MOFA speculate the outcome of ongoing Scotland Yard investigation. The raids on a facility are not done to clear the name of suspected criminal but to strengthen their findings so far. MOFA should understand that Altaf is in London not in Karachi. Scotland Yard/Metropolitan Police is not corrupt Karachi police. MQM representative at one time offered a ludicrous explanation that the police came to just chat with them and had coffee and Haleem etc.

When there is a smoke there must be fire. Altaf Hussain, if remains quiet and does not address his disciples in Karachi for a while then it could be assumed that this thug is in trouble. We have to wait and see.

  3. I am disappointed that ThePakistanToday has also joined the league of cowards not reporting significant development of London Police raids on MQM International Secretariat.

    • UK is all time supporter of MQM and his cowardice leadership that is why never ever think they will try to indulge Altaf hsuaain a professional criminal and murderer in such open case. This is impossible that one with long list of criminal charges can think of living and enjoying life in UK.Million rupees were annually sent to UK via e banking to this group from Karachi and that is why MQM top leadership is enjoying UK nationalities along with have parliamentary rights in Pakistan.how this so called educated class justifies that they are ignorant of this law of dual nationality. As long as they are in Dubai and UK, no one will arrest them until found they are tending toward nationalism.Imran Farooq surely were trying to leave this gang and he was eliminated from the scene in UK which is safe heaven for mqm people as they are camouflaging UK vested interests in Karachi.

  4. Why MQM is so afraid, if it has nothing do with the killing of Dr. Imran. It is said that he was planning his own party.

  5. I doubt about the caliber of FO spokesman who issued this statement. How can they issue it? This is outrageous.

  6. Why is MQM behaving like a guilty party already? May be they know the facts and are terrified of full public discovery of ordered a hit on Imran Farooq.

Raiding of MQM's offices in London is no small matter, UK Home Office must have suspicion or information about MQM's alleged involvement.

It is too soon to speculate, but what if the UK Government blames MQM, who will Altaf Hussain blame for the consipiracy then, the Sindhis, the Punjabis, the Pathans?

  7. @Aijaz Haq
You are absolutely right that there must be some credible information at the hands of Scotland Yard which led to a full fledged raid on the complex of so called International Secretariat. The police did not finish its investigation on the first day but had to return to the site next day and obviously they would have made that sensitive are out of bound to the thugs living there.

Altaf Hussain is literally running a parallel government from his Secretariat but his activities must have been stopped for a while and this in turn will bring a positive development for unfortunate province of Sindh as it will have a sigh of relief from raving and ranting by Altaf on telephone.

You could see the tenor of Altaf's disciples in Karachi. They have suddenly started talking of Sindh and Sindhis not Karachi and Mohajirs.

  8. FO has no business to comment on a raid involving a crime committed against Dr Imran Farooq, who held a Uk nationality and members of MQM International Sectt who are all Uk nationals. This is an internal matter of UK because the murder took place in London.
