Senate body asks CDA to submit report over legality of Kurri, Reharra villages

Senate body on Friday directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) to submit result oriented report until 28thJanuary 2013 on issues pertaining to Kurri and Reharra village, Islamabad.
The meeting of the senate standing committee on Cabinet Secretariat was held here under the chair of Senator Kalsoom Parveen. Senior officials of Cabinet division and CDA participated in the meeting.
The committee asked the authority to speed up development process as two years has been passed but the CDA appeared failed to fix the responsibility into the illegalities and corruption in the award of Kurri and Reharra village, Islamabad.
The committee moreover directed the authority to immediately resolve the matters pending with the national accountability bureau (NAB) in this wake.
Meanwhile, the senate body took up issue of National Police Foundation (NPF). It is pertinent to mention that NPF purchased a total of 1079 kanal land from member National Assembly (MNA) Anjum Aqeel Khan in 2004. NPF planned to develop housing society but CDA had cancelled their NOC in 2008 for not meeting the terms and conditions agreed at the time of issuance.
Managing Director (MD) NPF told the committee the MPA had not delivered the entire land to NPF. NPF consulted the court in 2008 and got the stay over NOC cancellation and still the matter is on the stay in the court.
It should be clear that NPF allotted the land to the customers lastly in 2010 despite cancellation of the NOC. The committee expressed concerns over the CDA for not taking the matter in the court against plea of the NPF for the stay order.
The senate body directed recently appointed chairman CDA and managing director NPF to consult with each other and resolve the matter as soon as possible.
NPF managing director assured the members committee and CDA that all terms and conditions imposed by the CDA would be fulfilled in letter and spirit. The committee directed both of the departments to submit a report after consultation until end of this month i.e. December, 2012.
