Efforts of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis proved fruitful as the tax on foreign calls was abolished on Wednesday. A tax had been imposed on international calls a few months ago and thousands of overseas Pakistanis had been affected by the step.
Overseas Pakistanis Federal Minister Dr Farooq Sattar had taken an interest to resolve the problem and had written a letter to the president and prime minister in this regard.
He had also met the prime minister and raised the issue, saying that it was not fair to impose taxes on overseas Pakistanis who contributed $13 million to the economy through remittances. The prime minister took action and directed the concerned authorities to abolish the tax.
