Students performed a Chinese umbrella dance, held a Tai Ji competition and sang Pakistan’s and China’s national anthems at a reception hosted to honour the Chinese Ambassador Liu Jian at the Roots Millennium School on Tuesday.
The Roots Chinese Language Department (RCLD) had organised a welcome ceremony for Ambassador Jian. The ambassador had visited the school to appreciate its Chinese Language Department and the CRI-Roots Confucius Classroom, where more than 3,000 students were learning Mandarin.
The ambassador was given a warm welcome by students who also sang the national anthems of both countries. Students from the Wahid Campus mesmerised the audience through their performance of a Chinese Umbrella Dance and Tai Ji Performance.
Speaking on the occasion, Jian said that Pak-China friendship was a new chapter which had no parallel in the history. He said that the launch of Chinese language centres in Pakistan was an initiative which would further strengthen bonds between the people of both countries.
Roots CEO Faisal Mushtaq said that the enthusiasm, dedication and devotion to nurture Pak-China friendship were profound. “We are committed to render our support and take an active part in initiatives aimed at furthering this national cause and promoting education and literacy,” he concluded.
