Al-Shifa Trust (Special School and Centre for Rehabilitation) observed the “International Disabled Day” with great fervour. On the occasion, special children performed colorful tableaus, songs and acts which were highly appreciated by the audience. Children also participated in an “Awareness Walk” arranged around the premises of Al-Shifa Trust which was aimed at educating the audiences. Al-Shifa Trust President and Pakistan International Airlines Director Ghazala Rashid praised and appreciated the efforts of the special children to make this event a success. Later, gifts were distributed among the special children. “International Day of Persons with Disabilities” is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The aim of this day had been to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It was also aimed at increasing awareness about the benefits associated with the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
