Advisor to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain has said the taxes and the price of the gas provided to CNG sector cannot be reduced.
In a statement‚ he said the CNG sector will have to be phased out and in the first phase‚ it will be confined only to public transport.
The Adviser said the CNG has harmed other important sectors and badly affected the textile industry‚ which is the major foreign exchange earner of the country.
Dr Asim Hussain said the government will present its proposals to the Supreme Court.
He said Tehran will provide 500 million dollars for the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.
