Atleast one billion humans or approximately 15 per cent of the world’s population fall into the category of disabled people.
People with disabilities, encounter barriers to participation in all walks of society and do not enjoy access to official services, including education, employment, health care, transportation, political participation and justice as their societal counterparts do. Like all civilized societies and polities we in Pakistan should legislate to mandate granting NOC’s to building plans if the cater to the needs of the disabled. Similarly, we should reserve seats for the disabled starting from public transport to the national and provincial legislature. We need to build rehabilitative care and education centers and grant tax discounts on automobiles.
