Govt working to add 19,000MW of electricity: Raghib Abbas

WAPDA Chairman Raghib Abbas Shah said that the government had aimed to add 19,000 MW of electricity in the next 5 to 10 years. In an interview‚ he said that the government had made efforts to complete ongoing energy projects during the current financial year.
He said that the Allai Khawar project of 121MW would start functioning next month, while the Satpara‚ Gomal Zam and Jabban hydro-projects would be completed in March.
The chairman said that 40 percent work on the 969MW Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project had been completed and would start generating electricity in 2016.
Raghib said that USAID will help build the Diamar-Bhasha Dam.
