Governor orders expansion of command, control centres in Sindh

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad directed the authorities concerned to expand the network of command and control centres across the province. Chairing a meeting to review the existent command and control system at the Governor House on Sunday, he urged for a composite and technologically sophisticated “Anti Criminal Mechanism,” in the province. He said that “the existent surveillance system must, not only be strengthened but also made efficient in all parts of Sindh,”
It was decided during the meeting that the Commissioner of Karachi would be the focal person for control and command system in the metropolis. The Governor ordered integration of the command control centers operating under KMC and Karachi police head-office respectively. He also directed that the command and control system in the city must develop close networking with the authorities of Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim, Steel Mills, Civil Aviation and other relevant organizations. Dr Ishrat ul Ebad ordered the officials to strengthen community policing and surveillance in eight zones of the city, made as per the recommendations of the business community. He asked the Deputy Commissioner South and chief of the Citizen Police Liaison Committee to ensure beefing up security in the business centers and industrial areas of the city. The Governor expressed confidence that updated security measures would also address the issue of encroachment and violation of traffic rules. He ordered the officials to take action against vehicles plying in the city as well as the province without authorized number plates. The meeting extensively discussed different aspects of the surveillance system and recommended for its expansion, besides strengthening and making it more result-oriented. The Sindh Governor made it clear to the officials concerned that the command and control system could only be beneficial if its application was optimally utilized in preventing crimes and nabbing the criminals.
