The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Distributors Association has opposed the second time price hike by LPG marketing companies in a week despite reduction in international prices of gas. According to sources, the international price of LPG had been reduced from $ 1,014 per metric ton to $ 974. The $40 cut in prices would mean Rs 4,500 reduction for LPG distributors. “The marketing companies in Pakistan instead of passing the benefit on to consumers have taken an adverse position and increased the gas price by Rs 5 per kg,” said the LPG Distributors Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar in a statement on Sunday.
