Four-time major winner and Golf in Dubai ambassador Laura Davies has been paired with Shanshan Feng, the only golfer from mainland China to win a title on the LPGA Tour, for the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters Challenge Match, which will be held at the Emirates Golf Club par-3 course on Monday.
The match, which showcases some of the marquee players competing in the Ladies European Tour’s season-ending event here later in the week, will also see Dubai-based amateur Kavita Sehmi in action. Sehmi, who plays off a one handicap, will team up with American Michelle Wie, while the six-player greensomes event also sees South Korea’s Seo Kyung-hee paired with defending Dubai champion Lexi Thompson, who also won last year’s Challenge Match alongside Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson.
The nine-hole event, which starts at 6pm, will provide spectators with an opportunity to see the game’s biggest stars up close and personal. All fans will have access to the course and they will be allowed to take photos of the players.
The match will be followed by a gala dinner reception featuring a best-dressed competition. The players, sponsors and invited guests can also bid for a selection of sports memorabilia during an auction in aid of Breast Cancer Arabia.
Golf in Dubai, the promoters and organisers of the Dubai Ladies Masters, have announced details of the entertainment that will be available at the ‘public village’ during the main event from December 5 to 8.
There will be a giant TV screen showing the live action, food and drink outlets, games for children and free golf clinics. Various distributors of golf equipment will also display their wares at the exhibition hall in the village.
