The City District Management has approved the underpass project leading from district courts Rawalpindi to new judicial complex to ensure secure crossing for the people during working hours.
Earlier the MNA of the constituency and the district administration had approved the plan to build an overhead bridge but this plan was rejected by the District Bar Association Rawalpindi on the plea that all overhead bridges built inside the city so far have failed to serve their purpose.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif had given the final approval to this project, which would be constructed at the cost of Rs 50 million. The contract for the project had been awarded to the National Logistics Cell (NLC).
Walk through gates would be installed on the entry and exit points on both the sides of the underpass while special lighting arrangement would be ensured inside the underpass for the convenience of citizens.
