Doctors from the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan chapter continued their strike for the 45th consecutive day on Saturday at government and private hospitals of despite recovery of Dr Saeed. Some doctors however, have resumed their duties. The patients who came from far-flung areas faced severe problems owing to the sustained strike; however, some doctors who parted ways with PMA were performing their duties in the emergency wards of hospitals. The payment of ransom money for the release of Dr Saeed, an ophthalmologist, is the justification by Balochistan PMA for continuing their strike. The Balochistan PMA President Dr Sultan Tareen said the doctors would continue the strike until the government pays up the money given as ransom to the abductors, insisting that the government played no role in getting the abducted doctor released.
