Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that corruption was the only agenda that had led to the creation of an alliance between several major political parties.
Accusing the federal government for breaking records of corruption, he said, on the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) had set a new record of a transparent and corruption-free province. He further said that the previous government of Punjab was the most repressive and corruption governments the province had ever seen. He said based on the corruption records of the parties, the people would reject them in the upcoming general elections.
Addressing a meeting of Punjab Assembly members, he reminded the people present that Rs 70 billion were unaccounted for in the Punjab Bank scandal of the previous government and said that Lahore-Kusur road project was also an example of their corruption disasters.
He said that ever since PML-N league come to power in the Punjab, it had devoted itself to development works across the province. He said that these development projects had also earned the praise of the international community.
Speaking on the Metro Bus project, he said that this project was also another example of the lengths the current Punjab government had gone to facilitate the people. He said other political parties were only criticizing this project because they had lost the opportunity for corruption and plunder.
