The police allegedly tortured and brutally injured an accused arrested over a financial dispute on Thursday.
Family members of the injured youth said that Qasim had been arrested by Sadiqabad Police over a Rs 3,000 financial dispute a couple of days earlier.
They said that the police had brutally tortured him during the interrogation, broke his limbs and later threw him from a police truck. The injured boy was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition. Family members of the injured boy held a protest demonstration against the police and demanded the authorities to bring the culprits to book.
The Sadiqabad Police Station SHO rejected the blame and said that the accused was involved in drug peddling and was injured as he jumped out of the building when the police conducted a raid to arrest him. He said that an investigation into the incident was underway.
