Four workers of a political group were shot dead and another injured on Thursday in an incident of targeted-killing at Karachi’s Landhi area. Police said the victims were targeted by armed men who opened fire on their taxi in Mansehra Colony in Landhi area. The attackers managed to flee from the scene. The deceased were identified as Qadir Julani, Aleem Uddin, Zafar Qaim Khani and their driver.
All the four persons were shifted to hospital in critical condition where three of them were pronounced dead while another injured is being treated, officials said. Police said the victims were workers of a political party who were eliminated in the drive-by attack. “It was an incident of target killing and we are investigating into the murders,” they said. On the other hand, a robber was arrested after an alleged shootout with police at North Nazimabad in Karachi late Wednesday night. According to reports, two armed motorcyclists snatched a purse from a woman before being spotted by the police. After a brief shootout, one robber was arrested in injured condition while his accomplice escaped. The police recovered a pistol, cash and the snatched purse. In another incident on Thursday, armed assailants gunned down a youngster in the area of Baldia Town. The name of the deceased was said to be Anwar and age 25. His dead body has been shifted to Civil Hospital amid tears and fear. Meanwhile, business activities were on a slow side after incidents of firing in the area till last reports came in.
Five TTP men held in Karachi: CID police arrested five criminals during an operation at Manghopir area on Thursday. SSP CID Chaudhary Aslam told that the arrested were on the payroll of Tehreek-e- Taliban (TTP) Qari Safique group. Police recovered four TT pistols from their possession.
