Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has started sending inflated bills to consumers on the pretext of meter change, causing problems for the poor masses.
According to sources, IESCO had planned to install new digital meters, which had not been carried out in the scheduled time. Officials, in an attempt to show off their performance to higher authorities, resorted to sending inflated bills to consumers. Consumers were told that extra units in the bills would be adjusted next month. Consumers complained that they had been forced to pay electricity bills on double rates as 300 to 400 additional units had been added to their bills. An electricity consumer from Tahli Mohri had been sent 300 extra units and was told by an IESCO official that they had decided to send an approximated bill in case of a meter change.
The IESCO SDO admitted that in the case of a meter change, estimated bills had been dispatched.
Consumers demanded the minister and federal secretary for water and power to take notice of the matter.

  1. F-11 residents paid their bill for October and the amount was again included in the bill for November. How is that explained?
