Pakistan on Wednesday successfully conducted the training launch of its medium-range ballistic missile Hatf V (Ghauri) capable of carrying both nuclear and conventional warheads over a distance of 1,300 kilometers. The launch was conducted by the Strategic Missile Group of the Army’s Strategic Force Command (ASFC) on the culmination of a field training exercise that was aimed at testing the operational readiness of the ASFC. “Ghauri missile is a liquid fuel missile which can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads over a distance of 1,300 kilometres,” said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The launch was monitored at the National Command Centre (NCC) through the National Command Authority’s fully automated Strategic Command and Control Support System (SCCSS). The test strengthens Pakistan’s deterrence capability and national security. The president and the prime minister congratulated all ranks of the ASFC on the excellent standard achieved during the training which was reflected in the proficient handling of the weapon system in the field and the accuracy of the training launch.
