Overloading damaging highways, causing accidents

Participants of the National Highway and Motorway Police meeting held here on Tuesday agreed that overloading should be banned as it not only damages the highways but also causes major accidents. The meeting was presided over by the Motorway Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr. Waliullah, and attended by the representatives of National Logistics Cell (NLC), Pakistan Steel, Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Shell, Pakistan State Oil (PSO), and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO). The attention of participants was drawn towards the damage caused to the highways and the road accidents that occurred because of overloading on vehicles. They agreed that the laws for the prevention of overloading should be strictly observed. The participants of the meeting assured their cooperation for tackling this problem, while giving their suggestions in this regard. It was agreed that a strategy would be evolved soon in this regard in collaboration with the transporters.
