Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) Sindh President Ghaus Bukhsh Mahar on Tuesday resigned from his post. Talking to journalists, Mahar said that he neither resigned from the membership of the party nor intended to join any other party. Earlier, he was believed to be joining PML-N in the wake of his meetings with the opposition party big-wigs. The PML-Q leader said, “I resigned on my own from the ministry and it is absolutely wrong news that the prime minister removed me.” Mahar said that he resigned from the presidentship of PML-Q Sindh Chapter as a result of protest on Peoples Local Government Bill. PML-Q would stand with the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) in order to resolve the problems of the people of Sindh, he added. The former minister vowed to support Pir Pagara, the spiritual leader of Hurs and chief of PML-F. The former minister also said, “From now, my political future is attached with Pir Pagara. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) did not fulfill the pledges it made with the people.” Meanwhile, at least 57 office-bearers of PML-Q in Sindh submitted their resignations to Mahar, three days after he quit as Privatisation Minister, citing the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders’ non-cooperation. It is important to mention here that PML-Q is an ally of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party in Sindh and the Center.
