US Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Marc Grossman is stepping down on December 14 after leading the American diplomatic campaign in the region for two years, a private TV channel reported.
He assumed this role in February 2011 replacing Richard Holbrooke who had died of a heart attack in a meeting with Hillary Clinton.
Grossman served as US Ambassador to Turkey, Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs and Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs.
In 2011, he was the assistant chief of Mission at the US embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. He also served as an ambassador to Algeria.
