The closure of small U-turns on all roads in the federal capital has only multiplied problems. Under the traffic plan, small U-turns have been abolished and long U-turns have been built to ease the traffic flow on roads, highways and intersections. However the longer U-turns have started irking citizens as they have to bear the brunt of additional expenses on petrol and gas consumption. A government employee said, “Short U-turns were a real facility as we reached our offices in 15 minutes, and had to spend less on fuel. However, due to U-turns at longer distances, we have to suffer in terms of time and fuel consumption especially with soaring fuel prices.” No U-turns have been built on a five-kilometre road between the police check-post to Peshawar Morr on the Kashmir Highway in front of the fire brigade office.
