CDA to resolve traders’ problems

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz said during a meeting with the delegation of traders’ community here at CDA Headquarters on Tuesday that problems of the traders’ community will be resolved with mutual coordination and the authority will welcome practical solutions for the promotion of economic activity and maintaining conducive business environment in the federal capital. Members of the CDA board, departmental officers and office bearers of the traders union led by Ajmal Baloch were also present on the occasion.
The CDA chairman said that removal of the encroachments from the city was on top of the authority’s agenda, and urged the traders to cooperate with them in this regard. He said that the traders’ community could play a pivotal role in the removal of these encroachments, which have cropped up in the markets of the federal capital. He further said that the CDA has formulated a comprehensive plan in this regard, adding that in the first phase all the footpaths would be cleared, in the second phase verandas occupied by encroachment would be cleared and in the third phase the encroachments in front of shops would be removed. He also said that the strategy for removal of encroachments would be finalized after taking suggestions from the public, particularly the traders’ community. The CDA chairman said that the authority would also construct new public toilets while the existing public toilets would be upgraded to facilitate traders and visitors. He said that like other government institutions, the CDA was also facing severe energy crisis. He also said the CDA was currently working on maintenance and repair of streetlights. On this occasion, the representatives of the traders’ community ensured their full support and cooperation to the CDA for removal of encroachments and development of the city.
