SC should also take suo motu notice of lawlessness in Punjab, says Memon

Hailing the Supreme Court’s (SC) suo motu notice taken regarding Karachi’s law and order situation, Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon on Monday said the apex court should also exhibit the same spirit in Punjab where, he claimed, lawlessness was at its height. “The SC must take suo moto notice over it,” an official statement quoted Memon as saying.
He said measures taken for maintaining law and order in Sindh, especially in Karachi, have brought in positive results. The police, rangers personnel and other law enforcement agencies have been busy in protecting the citizens. Memon further said, “The present democratic government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has taken all steps for the welfare of people while in Punjab it seemed as if it was being ruled by the Mughals with Shahbaz Sharif playing the role of an emperor”. He claimed that due to bad governance in Punjab the rate of crimes like kidnapping for ransom, robberies, and forced rapes was fast increasing. Inefficiency of the Punjab government has caused the death of dozens of innocent people due to the sale of substandard medicines, he exclaimed. Moreover, Memon said the situation in Punjab was turning worse because a “prince” has concentrated all power in his hands and silence of the judiciary over the crimes of the Punjab government was very surprising. In the next elections the princes of Raiwind would be defeated and PPP would emerge victorious after which it would compensate all the injustices, committed by the so-called “Khadim-e-Aala”, he concluded.
