At least one man died while four people sustained injuries in a roadside blast on Monday in Malir City area of Karachi. According to local police officials, the explosion took place in Mohabbat Nagar area near Sheesh Mahal and the bomb was planted in a cement factory.
Police said that the bomb explosion injured three workers of the factory, adding that the sound of the blast was heard far across the vicinity. Later, heavy contingents of police and rangers reached the spot and cordoned off the area, while an initial investigation have been started in this regard.
Suspected terrorist given in 10-day physical remand: A local court sent a suspected terrorist, accused of plotting a suicide attack on an Ashura procession, on a ten-day physical remand, media reports said.
According to details, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh Police arrested Ataullah alias Ali yesterday after a police encounter in Manghopir area of the metropolis.
The saboteur was escorted to the court under strict armed guard.
The investigation officer told the court that Ataullah and his accessories were planning to carry out a suicide attack on an Ashura procession.
The suspected terrorist told the court that he was planning to attack an Ashura procession by wearing a suicide vest, but the police arrested him and foiled the attack.
285 kgs hashish & 1.500 kgs of heroin seized by ANF: Anti Narcotics Force seized 285 Kgs Hashish and 1.5 kgs of heroine in three different raids on Monday.
Per details ANF apprehended Nabi Buksh and Khalid Ahmad brohi near Sukkur Toll Plaza and recovered 270 Kgs of Hashish concealed in clandestine cavities of a Truck. In another raid, 15 Kgs of Hashish was recovered from a car at Sukkur and the driver along with his partner was arrested. Anti Narcotics Force also arrested a person named Sher Zaman S/O Karim Bux R/O Chak No.31DB, Tehsil Kaloor Kot, Distt Bakhar, Passport No. BS-5201911 from Benazir Butto Shaheed International Airport, for concealing 1.500 kgs of Heroin in his trolley bag. Sher Zaman was boarding a flight #GF-771 bound for Damam (Saudi Arabia) via Behrain when he was arrested.
Terror bid thwarted, huge weapons recovered in Manghopir: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Fayyaz Leghari said Crime Investigation Department (CID) Police have thwarted a terror bid and killed a suspect besides recovering a huge quantity of explosive material and arms in Manghopir area of the metropolis. During a press conference at a local hotel here on Sunday, the IGP said that the police during their raids faced confrontation from the suspects. He told newsmen that the police launched a raid in Manghopir area at 4 am on Sunday. He further said that 2 suicide jackets were also recovered from the site. Leghari said that the alleged terrorist had planned to enter the main procession of Ashura to cause maximum damage but the plan was foiled by the CID police. He said that it would be premature to name Lashkar-e-Jhangvi for their involvement in this entire affair.
