Zin Gas Block can meet Pakistan’s energy requirements

President Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI), Farida Rashid said on Monday that Zin Gas Block can meet Pakistan’s energy needs for the next one hundred years.
Extraction from Zin Block can cease the need to import LPG, LNG or natural gas from any country, said President IWCCI, Farida Rashid.
Speaking to women entrepreneurs, Farida Rashid said that quantity of gas in Zin is almost double than that in Sui, the biggest natural gas field in Pakistan.
The reserve would also help Pakistan save massive foreign exchange, bring an end to scarcity of CNG, fertilizer and power sectors and revive economy, she added.
Farida Rashid informed that Zin block is surrounded by major natural gas producing fields of Pirkoh, Loti, Sui and Uch and gas extracted from here can start to be utilised in next six months settling severe energy crisis forever.
Instead of importing gas from Iran or Turkmenistan, facing international pressures and investing billions in projects surrounded by risks, government should seriously consider exploring indigenous hydrocarbon resources on war footings, she maintained.
The IWCCI president further said that Sui gas field accounts for 26 per cent of country’s gas production, it is left with only 2 trillion cubic feet gas while the daily production is around 604 million cubic feet.
Farida Rashid asked the government to adopt an aggressive strategy on exploration and production front in the unexplored areas of Balochistan to boost supply by two billion cubic feet per day.
