Terror bid foiled in Karachi

A possible terror bid was averted when police seized an explosive laded-car in Karachi and killed terrorist of a banned outfit during an encounter.
CID police raided a house in Sultanabad area in Manghopir on a tip-off that some terrorists were planning to carry out a blast in Muharram processions.
“An encounter between CID team and terrorist took place in which a terrorist was killed and few others fled. We have impounded a car laden with over 100 kilogram of explosive material,” CID SSP Aslam Chaudhry said.
He said an explosive-fitted motorbike was also seized.
The police officer said that explosive material was concealed in water coolers and connected with detonators, adding that weapons were also recovered from the terrorists.
Chaudhry, who has led an operation in Karachi’s restive Lyari locality few months ago, claimed that the terrorists belonged to banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
The terror bid foiled as Mahakam processions are being taken out in Karachi amid enhanced security and surveillance across the country on fears of militant attacks.
