An alleged sex trafficker was arrested from Iqbal Park on Thursday amidst a dramatic turn of events that left Lorry Adda police baffled as to who the real offender was.
Per details, a woman named Zainab raised a clamour on seeing a man whom she alleged to be a sex trafficker. The commotion attracted a large number of people and security personnel who gathered at the spot.
Zainab alleged that the man, identified as Azeem, was a sex trafficker who had kidnapped her some time ago. She asked the security personnel at Minar-e-Pakistan to call the police, which arrived soon after.
At the Lorry Adda police checkpost, Zainab told officials that Azeem and Malik, who was accompanying Azeem but had managed to escape from Iqbal Park after the commotion, were involved in sex trafficking. She told police officials to summon another woman named Sobia, who she claimed was also a victim of the two men.
The police called for Sobia who testified that Azeem had been involved in trafficking women through intoxicating them. She claimed that Azeem and his accomplice Malik had picked her up from Data Darbar and sold her for Rs 150,000 to a man named Nadeem in Shikarpur. Sobia said she spent six months in Shikarpur following which she was sold again to a woman named Naseem in Gujrat.
While the police kept track of the chain of incidents, Azeem turned the tables around and alleged that Zainab, Sobia and her husband were themselves part of the sex trafficking business and claimed that they sold girls who had run away from their homes owing to family disputes. The SHO Lorry Adda Police Station handed over Azeem to Data Darbar Police Station and ordered the registration of a case against him while the two women asserted that further investigation will reveal more victims who had been kidnapped by Azeem.
