Police put on red alert, security beefed up

The police on Thursday beefed up security in and around all imambargahs, majalis and important locations in the province in the wake of series of blasts across the country.
Police sources said Punjab IG Police Habibur Rehman had ordered intensified patrolling around all important locations especially mosques, imambargahs and churches of big cities.
He directed all regional, city and district police officers across the province to remain on high alert and ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order in their respective areas. The IGP further directed police officers to take effective precautionary measures, especially in crowded public places, to prevent incidents of terrorism and ordered deployment of plain clothes police where necessary. Police officers have also been directed to utilise all the available resources and their best professional skills to maintain vigil over the activities of suspected persons, and dubious elements. The IG police urged the people to cooperate with the police in this regard, saying that in case they find any unclaimed object or see a suspicious person or shady activity they must immediately inform police emergency and Rescue 15 to prevent any untoward incident.
