Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Thursday urged all stakeholders to take proactive measures to reduce carbon emission and adopt energy conservation techniques in order to reduce the hazards posed to the environment.
In a meeting at the prime minister’s residence with Federal Minister for Climate Change Rana Farooq Saeed Khan, he said that erratic weather patterns have led to excessive rains and floods in the last three years including the floods of 2010, the worst in the country’s 65-year history.
“The government is cognizant of the challenges posed by climatic change and has taken major policy initiatives in the environment sector to cope with such situations in future,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed that visible change would only be possible if all segments of the society participated with the government in its campaign.
