Pierce Hawthorne, American TV show Community’s annoying old man in the study group that attends Greendale Community College on the comedy, because he has no-one to spend time with, will stop appearing on the show.
And the veteran actor Chevy Chase, who plays Pierce is to blame, reveal reports. After appearing for more than three seasons on the show, the thespian parts ways by mutual agreement, a website confirmed, adding that his exit is effective immediately.
While most of the current season (Season 4) has already been filmed, a couple of episodes have been filmed. Chase’s exit is not expected to affect production although he is expected to appear in the finale. The show’s writer Megan Ganz tweeted a picture with the actor appearing in the snapshot.
Chase has had something of a turbulent relationship with the producers, growing increasingly frustrated with his character’s progression. He used abusive language on sets but later apologised for his behaviour. He even clashed with the show’s creator Dan Harmon, who was then replaced. Pierce isn’t one of the main characters, but he does play a significant role on the show, acting as a catalyst on the show, and thanks to his eccentric antics. Chase’s exit and troubles with his show follows the unceremonious exit of Charlie Sheen who also parted ways with his show, Two And A Half Men.
