The Awami Workers Party (AWP) on Thursday held a peaceful protest against the Israeli aggression in Gaza.
The protest, held outside the Lahore Press Club, was attended by senior party members including Asim Sajjad, Farooq Tariq and Abid Manto.
Speaking on the occasion, the party leaders condemned the violence in Gaza, and said the ceasefire announced was in no way a guarantee of peace in the region. They called upon Israel to find an immediate solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, and deemed the Israeli-American alliance to be a dangerous force that does not allow peace in the region. At the protest, attended by party workers and students unions like National Student’s Federation (NSF), the protesters shouted slogans against Israel and the United States and dispersed after 45 minutes.
