Ali Zafar, who won over Indian audiences with his singing much before his Bollywood debut Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), has been declared the third-most Google searched singer in India by Variety magazine. According to the survey, Ali was just behind Jagjit Singh and Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. The singer-actor was way ahead of Atif Aslam and even AR Rahman who stood fifth and sixth respectively.
Ali says, “Rahman sir and many others have a very special place in my heart. I am just a humble student of music doing my own thing. I am glad that people like it.” He also feels that there is no such thing as competition as there are enough opportunities for all. “I look at people involved in music as friends. There is enough in the world for everyone to achieve and attain,” says the singer-turned-actor. Ali is passionate about music, but he has now started enjoying acting equally. “Acting takes up a lot of time and dedication. I am singing for my own projects and have been asked to compose and write for my next film. I am also working on my next album. I don’t like to just sing songs like a machine in a factory.” The actor has been busy shooting for Chashme Baddoor, which releases on February 22, after which he will start the schedule of Aman Ki Asha, a rom-com where he will be paired with Yami Gautam.
