A delegation of Christian leaders from the UK visited Karachi and Islamabad from Nov 17 to November 22 to meet with local churches to promote greater understanding between the UK and Pakistan.
The delegation was led by Bishop Declan Lang of Clifton, chairman of the International Affairs Department of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales and chairman, of Missio / The Pontifical Mission Societies, an organisation that supports Catholic Churches across the world.
During their visit, the delegation met with the Governor of Sindh – Dr. Ishratul Ebad to discuss issues of mutual concern and to encourage corporation between the Government of Sindh and faith communities. British Deputy High Commissioner – Francis Campbell accompanied the delegation during the discussion with the Governor of Sindh.
On his visit to Pakistan, Bishop Declan Lang, said, “I have been privileged to visit Pakistan to learn more about the people and the rich culture of this extraordinary country. Seeing firsthand the work done by Christians in promoting the common good through education and healthcare, in these very challenging circumstances, has been a testament of their faith and commitment to their homeland.”
