The district government of the federal capital announced a public holiday for today (Thursday) on the occasion of the D-8 Conference.
According to a handout issued by the district government, Thursday would be a holiday and all government offices and educational institutions would remain closed.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said that despite a holiday in Islamabad, the apex court would hear cases as per routine. On a query during the Rental Power Case, the chief justice said that there were important cases before the court and all cases would be heard according to routine.
Foolproof security arrangements had been made for the conference and security officials would be on high alert to avert any untoward incidents.
