With the start of 6th Muharram-ul-Harram, big gatherings of Majalis-e-Aza and mourning processions have been started in Hyderabad placing more responsibility to law enforcement agencies to be vigilant in order to avert any untoward incident during next four days till Youm-e-Ashur.
Besides two big gathering of Mehndi Hazrat Qasim (RA) around two dozens mourning processions of Zuljina (Pir) are being taken out from different parts of Hyderabad City, Latifabad and Qasimabad towns.
The gatherings of Mehndi Hazrat Qasim (RA) are being held late Wednesday night at Mehfil-e-Hussaini Station Road and Hazara Imambargah Hussainabad.
On Thursday the 7th of Muharram, the female gathering of Mehndi Hazrat Qasim (RA) will be held at Mehfil-e-Hussaini Station Road after Assar prayers while in the night, the mourning procession of Hazrat Abbas (RA) will be taken out from Qadamgah Moula Ali under the banner of Anjuman-e-Haideri which after meandering throuh its traditional routes, terminate near Gul Shah Jo Pir Gari Khata. The same night, the female mourning procession will also be taken out from Khai Road which after marching on its traditional routes and stopover at Qasaiyan-jo-Pir culminate at Qadam Gah Moula Ali. In the evening of 7th of Muhrram, a big mourning procession of
Jamatian-jo-Pir followed by (Jhula) Hazrat Ali Asghar (RA) and over two dozens of Zulijanhas will be taken out from Tando Mir Mehmood, which after marching on its traditional routes will join the Mehndi Hazrat Qasim (RA) at Gul Shah Jo Pir in early hours of Friday and later terminate at Qadamgah Moula Ali. In the night of the 8th Muharram, mourning on fire will be held at Rashid Shah Jo Pir Nasim Nagar and Tando Jehanian while in early hours of November 24, Alam Hazrat Abbas Alamdar (RA) will be taken out in a big mourning gathering at Tando Thoro.
Muharram procession to be monitored through surveillance cameras: All the central `Majalis’ and processions especially those of 8th, 9th and 10th Muharram would be monitored through wireless and mobile surveillance cameras. This was announced in a statement of the Karachi police issued on Wednesday. It said that monitoring would also be done by the Command and Control centre at the Central Police Office (CPO) here. In this regard, necessary directives have been issued to the police officers and jawans. According to the police, the monitoring would simultaneously be through over 1,000 cameras installed at various places in the metropolis.
Some of the police mobiles have also been equipped with the surveillance system.
People’s Youth Wing workers to work for peace during Muharram: President People’s Youth Organization (PYO), Rauf Nagori has directed the activists of PYO to play their role to maintain peace and inter-faith harmony during the mourning processions and majalis of Muharram-ul-haram,in their respective areas. The PPP leader said this while addressing a gathering of the workers of PYO at People’s Secretariat here on Wednesday.
Measures for ensuring security during Muharram being finalised : Arrangements to tackle possible security hazards on the occasion of Ashura are being finalised all over the country including Karachi.
Sources said emergency has been imposed in the city to ensure foolproof security while ban might be imposed on motorbike riding in 25 areas including MA Jinnah Road, Ancholi, Orangi Town, Rizvia Society, Jaffar Tayyar Society, on 9th and 10th day of Muharram. MA Jinnah Road has been declared as extremely sensitive area. On Wednesday, Pakistan Rangers closed the road leading to Saddar area for all types of traffic and rehearsed for dealing with any unpleasant incident. Sources further said around 550 markets located on the passage of the Muharram procession on MA Jinnah Road will be closed for three days. Command and Control Rooms have also been established for monitoring the processions in Nishtar Park, while its aerial monitoring will also be conducted. Walk-through gates would be installed for improved security whereas bomb disposal squad will search the areas adjoining Imam Bargahs and venues of Majalis on daily basis.
