The expansion of katchi abadis (slums) in the federal capital, prior to the National Elections, has been in full swing in different sectors of the city, while CDA and police officials seem helpless in the matter. According to residents, a politician representing minorities was moving Christian families to the federal capital from other cities to increase his votes. The community had been encroaching on CDA owned land in sectors G-9/4, G-8/1 and H-9. According to a report sent to Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, the encroachers in Sector H-9 had displayed banners in favour of Pakistan Muslim League-Q MNA Akram Masih Gill. When contacted in this regard, the MNA could not be reached on his phone.
