The Supreme Court (SC) has sought a report from the Punjab Environment Ministry regarding the issue of pollution in the Rawal Dam.
The provincial environment ministry complying with the SC directives had collected and sent water samples from the dam to a laboratory to undergo tests.
The Rawalpindi environment ministry had also claimed that Punjab had the least role in polluting the Rawal Dam.
Sources said that in accordance with the SC directives the Punjab Environment Ministry would submit a fresh report regarding the issue after every 15 days.
Rawalpindi District Officer (DO)-Environment, Shaukat Hayat said that water samples from the Rawal Dam had been sent to a laboratory for examination and the final report would be presented before the SC after the completion of the process.
The DO said that only a minor portion of the Rawal Dam was lying in Punjab, adding that the federal capital was the major polluter of the dam.
