Corruption will not be tolerated: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that fraud and corruption from Punjab Entertainment Company would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those committing fraud. Presiding over a high-level meeting, he said that previously, massive corruption had ensued under Punjab Entertainment Company because of which no new machinery was imported to Pakistan. He said because of this fraud, the National Exchequer made a loss of billions of rupees during the regime of Pervez Musharraf.
He accused the administration of Musharraf era of “gobbling up” billions of rupees of citizens, and said that Punjab Bank incident and Lahore-Kasur Road project are two examples of such a fraud by the previous government.
During the meeting, the chief minister directed construction of a cricket ground for the place specified for Punjab Entertainment Company and said that underneath the cricket ground, two storied basement parking should also be constructed.
He also issued instructions for arrangements to be made for bringing all approved instruments for the project to Pakistan from abroad, while speedy construction of the cricket ground should be ensured.
