Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson, Farzana Raja has said that BISP is functioning successfully for alleviating poverty and empowering women of the country.
Talking to a private television channel, she said BISP was helping the poor and deserving families in a transparent manner.
She informed that more than 400,000 people had been included in the BISP database from Balochistan province, adding they would get immense benefits through this programme.
She further said that people of southern Punjab were also receiving the benefits of this programme. She also said that Rs 54 billion were distributed among the poor and deserving people of Punjab through the initiative.
The BISP chairperson said that World Bank and United Kingdom (UK) had been extending financial support to them for imparting education among Pakistani children.
She further informed that more than 30 million identity cards were provided to the women through the BISP initiative.
Moreover, she said that under the BISP, women had not only received cash grants but were also receiving added benefits of vocational training under their micro finance scheme.
She informed that different programmes had been launched by the present government including Waseela-e-Taleem, Waseela-e-Rozgar, and Waseela-e-Haq for the deserving and poor people of the country.
