British heart specialist of Pakistani origin, Dr Hasnat Ahmed will assume his responsibilities as head of cardiac surgery in Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) at the end of December.
Sources said that Dr Hasnat, who got fame with reference to Queen of Wales, Lady Diana, would come to Pakistan with his team. The team will stay in Pakistan for three months. Afterwards, the team will return to the United Kingdom, while Dr Hasnat Ahmed will focus his energies to organise certain departments of the Cardiology Institute, they added.
Executive Director of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, Major General (Retd.) Dr Azhar Mehmood Kiani said that the heart specialist is full of vigor to serve Pakistan and has demanded only Rs 500,000 monthly as his salary. This amount is nominal compared with the expertise Dr Hasnat possesses.
In the past, Dr Hasnat has done many successful operations in Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology, Rawalpindi.
Maj Gen. (Retd.) Azhar Mehmood Kiani further said that efforts are on the way to install state-of-the-art machinery in AFIC.
