Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi on Tuesday warned the leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and some private TV channels to abstain from involving him in the Asghar Khan case.
“I will file for contempt of court if they keep leveling groundless charges against me,” he threatened.
Addressing a press conference here at the PTI secretariat, Javed Hashim said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former President Pervez Musharraf left no stone unturned in leveling baseless allegations against him but none of them succeeded. “First, I want to announce my innocence in the Asghar Khan case through the media and then I will go to the courts,” Javed Hashmi said.
“I have with me my certificate of innocence which the NAB issued in my name,” he said while showing the documents. “I gave sacrifices for the PML-N by facing courts and jails, when its leaders fled the country during Musharraf’s rule,” he added. Commenting on the Accountability Bill 2012, Hashmi said both the PPP and N-League are not willing to pass the bill because they have a guilty conscience. “If the bill is passed through the parliament then many big names including Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will have to languish behind bars in various corruption cases,” he said.
