Committee to work out modalities to withdraw 350MW power from KESC

The federal minister for water and power Ahmed Mukhtar has said that 350 MW which was earlier provided to KESC would be added in the national grid and distributed to all the consumers.
This was decided during a meeting that held here on Wednesday with Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar, Minister for Water and Power in the chair to implement the decision of the Council of Common Interest (CCI) regarding utilization of idle capacity of KESC and to reduce 350 MW from KESC.
The Minister for Water and Power in his opening remarks said that the government is taking all possible steps to overcome the energy crisis in the country. He said that best possible way would be find out amicably to implement the decision of the CCI.
He said that the decision has been taken by the CCI on the recommendations of the committee set up for equitable load shedding. He expressed that the energy crisis would be controlled soon and several measures are being taken to reduce the load shedding.
Secretary Water and Power, Nergis Sethi said that the Ministry is working for uniform load shedding in the country both for urban and rural areas. He said that the electricity has become the basic necessity for all the people and all walks of lives are affected with the load shedding.
We have to reduce the misery of the people even for the rural areas by providing maximum power. She asked all the stakeholders to submit their proposals for early implementation of the decision.
Chief Secretaries of Sindh, Punjab, KPK, Chairman Nepra and MD KESC presented their point of views on the decision before the participants of the meeting.
After detailed deliberation from the stakeholders, it was decided to set up a committee under Secretary Water and Power to work out modalities for utilization of idle capacity generation of KESC. Other members include Chief Secretary Sindh, MD KESC, Nepra, Finance and Petroleum representatives. The committee would submit its recommendations with in four weeks.
